The great poker professionals have of course already become stars of their own by now. Names like Phil Hellmuth, Phil Ivey, Johnny Chan and Daniel Negreanu are known by a lot of people all over the world nowadays. But there are also a lot of celebrities who enjoy the game of texas hold’em.

All people who watched the WSOP 08 remember the magnificent performance of TV-star Ray Romano. And of course everybody knows Ben Affleck is a devoted poker player as well. His prize money amounts even to $ 356.400 at the moment. His friend Matt Damon has acquired a lot of fame with his leading role in the poker movie Rounders, but besides acting Matt also likes to play a game of poker in his spare time.

But there are also famous women who are seen near a poker table the last few years. Best example maybe is Shannon Elizabeth. Famous for performances in American Pie and Playboy, Shannon even finished third in the 2007 NBC heads-up Championship.  The succes of poker in Russia is also demonstrated by ex tennis player Yevgeni Kafelnikov, who even reached the final table in a WSOP event in 2005 (Seven Card Stud). Other ex sportsmen who like to play poker are amongst others the former football players Tony Cascarino ,who plays online poker too, and Teddy Sheringham. And there’s of course James Woods, who made it into the WSOP broadcast as well as a Family Guy episode, now who can say that?
